Michigan Corn Growers Association Recognizes Members for Service and Leadership during Annual Meeting
The Michigan Corn Growers Association (MCGA) presented two awards recognizing individuals for their service and leadership yesterday at the organization’s 2024 Annual Meeting, which took place during the Great Lakes Crop Summit in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Scott DeVuyst (Midland) received the Friend of Corn Award which honors individuals who have shown great support, leadership, and dedication to the corn industry.
“Scott DeVuyst’s passion for the agriculture industry is more than just his career,” said Jim Zook, executive director of MCGA. “He served as the industry representative on the MCGA board for 7 years where he used the opportunity to share his knowledge and relevant market information to assist growers in making the best possible management decisions on their operations. He has been a valuable asset to Michigan’s agricultural industry for more than 30 years and we are pleased to present him with this award.”
Scott Lonier (Grand Ledge) received the Distinguished Service Award which is presented to people in the corn industry that have exhibited exemplary leadership and service to their industry.
“Scott Lonier is a person that sincerely cares about his profession and has dedicated himself to making the corn industry better for all farmers,” said Randy Poll, president of MCGA. “He has served on both the Michigan Corn Growers Association and Corn Marketing Program of Michigan boards and has hosted many state and federal legislators on his family farm. He believes in giving back to his community and has led by example throughout his career. We are proud to present him with this award.”
